Deadline To Comment on City’s Loan Application for Seabra Foods is April 11
FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham, through its Planning and Community Development Division, has launched a 30-day comment period on Section 108 Loan Guarantee Program for the Relocation of Seabra Foods to downtown Framingham.
Section 108 is a low-cost financing program granted by HUD – Housing and Urban Development to finance projects that promote housing and economic development in low-moderate income areas.
Seabra Foods recently acquired the building located at 35 Concord Street, the former Salvation Army building, and will soon start the renovation work for the new store.
The new Seabra store on Concord Street is part of the downtown redevelopment plan. The loan should cover part of the costs with renovation of the new building, which includes a café and more than 50 parking spots.
The relocation of Seabra Foods is expected to create 15 new direct jobs and nine apartment units on the second floor. The apartments are intended to be rented to Seabra employees.
The community is invited to participate with questions and concerns about the application to Section 108 on behalf of Seabra Foods.
Questions can be submitted by email to prcostadesa@framinghamma.gov or to the Planning and Community Development Division, at Memorial Building, 150 Concord St. Room 121, Framingham, MA, 01702.
The deadline to submit is April 11, 2024.
A public hearing was held on March 12.
