Framingham Mayor Sisitsky To Host 9 District Meetings in 2024
FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham Mayor Charlie Sisitsky announced he will hold 9 District meetings in 2024, to listen to residents in their neighborhoods.
“I want to travel to each District and hear directly from residents what are the key issues in their neighborhood. For one neighborhood, the key issue may relate to a development or a zoning proposal. In another District it may be traffic or potholes. For another neighborhood, it may be the need for a curb cut in a sidewalk, or speeders on their roads,” said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky.
Mayor Sisitsky said he plans to invite the District Councilor and the District School Committee member to attend his District meetings.
The first District meeting will take place in District 9 on Thursday, January 18 at the Pelham Lifelong Learning Center at 103 Second Street from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
City Council Vice Chair Tracey Bryant (District 9) said she is thrilled to have the Mayor kick-off his neighborhood initiative in her District.
Mayor Sisitsky has requested Framingham Police Chief Lester Baker, Public Works Director Bob Lewis, and Parks & Recreation Director Jim Snyder to join him at the District 9 meeting.
The Sisitsky administration plans to update the neighborhood on local projects, including the Mary Dennison Park cleanup, and the redesign of Arlington Street Park.
Attendees should feel comfortable to voice their concerns, issues, and ideas.
The meetings also will allow the City to explain its communication network so residents can stay informed.
“My hope is that community engagement forums like these District meetings will lead to improved outcomes for neighborhoods and more residents will get involved in the vision and decision-making of their District, and the City as a whole,” said Mayor Sisitsky. “I also hope these meetings identify ways to “establish partnerships between the government and residents, on a path to create a greater sense of community ownership, and an improved services, tailored to the unique needs of the neighborhood.”
