Mosquito Spraying Scheduled in Framingham on August 21

FRAMINGHAM - The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will conduct truck-mounted aerosol spraying in Framingham to help reduce mosquito populations.

Spraying will take place Thursday, August 21, 2025, between sunset and 11:30 p.m.

The spray route will cover numerous streets in the city. In particular, spraying is scheduled for areas in the vicinity of Savoy Road, Clara Road, Swanson Road, Riverpath Drive, Maymont Drive, Karal Drive, Norman Drive, Brookfield Terrace, and Meadow Lane.

The product being applied is Zenivex E4 (EPA Reg. No. 2724-807) at a rate of one ounce per acre. Zenivex E4 is a non-ester pyrethroid classified by the EPA as a reduced-risk pesticide. It biodegrades rapidly, does not build up in the environment, and mosquito control applications at this rate pose no significant risk to people or pets.

As with any pesticide, residents should take simple precautions to minimize exposure. If a spray truck is approaching, it is recommended that residents go indoors and close windows for a few minutes while the spray dissipates. Beekeepers do not need to take special precautions since applications begin after sunset.

For questions about mosquitoes or mosquito control, please contact the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project at 781-899-5730.
