Framingham Apartment Building Evacuated After Multiple Carbon Monoxide Detectors Activated

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Fire Department evacuated an apartment building on Saturday morning, February 10, after multiple carbon monoxide detectors were activated.

Firefighters were called to 5 & 7 Georgetown Drive at 9 a.m. for multiple carbon monoxide activated, said Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher.

Firefighters found “very high levels of CO due to a malfunctioning exhaust pipe,” said Chief Dutcher. 

The unit was shut down, and all occupants were evacuated until firefighters completed venting of the buildings, said the Framingham Fire Chief.

One toddler was transported to the hospital, said the Fire Chief.

Occupants have returned to their units as of 1 p.m., said Chief Dutcher.

The boiler remains shut down until repairs are complete, and the City’s plumbing inspector inspects the boiler, said the Framingham Fire Chief. The building has no hot water and no heat, under the boiler is fixed.
