City of Framingham Declares Snow Emergency; Blizzard Warning Issued; Municipal Closures, Parking Ban, and Service Impacts Announced
FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham is issuing an emergency snow parking ban beginning Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 7 p.m. due to a forecasted winter storm. The ban is expected to remain in effect through at least 7 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, and may be extended depending on storm conditions.
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning for MetroWest including the City of Framingham from 4 p.m. Sunday through 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Blizzard Warning Details
- What: Blizzard conditions expected with 12 to 22 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 55 mph
- When: 4 p.m. Sunday through 7 a.m. Tuesday
- Impacts: Travel may be very difficult to impossible. Hazardous conditions could impact Monday morning and evening commutes. Strong winds may cause downed trees and power outages.
Residents are strongly urged to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm.
Emergency Operations
The Framingham Fire Chief will activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) beginning Sunday, February 22, at 7 p.m.
Residents with winter storm–related non-emergency calls should contact 508-532-5800.
If you have an emergency, call 9-1-1.
If residents experience a power outage, they should report it directly to Eversource at 1-800-592-2000.
Municipal & School Closures
All City of Framingham municipal buildings will be closed on Monday, February 23, including:
- The Memorial Building (City Hall)
- Public Libraries
- Callahan Senior Center
- All other non-essential municipal offices
Framingham Public Schools will be closed on Monday, February 23, marking the third snow day of the 2025–2026 school year.
Framingham State University has cancelled classes on Monday, February 23.
Trash & Recycling
There will be no curbside trash or recycling collection on Monday, February 23. Collection will resume on a one-day delayed schedule for the remainder of the week.
Residents are asked not to place barrels at the curb on Monday, as they interfere with snow plowing operations. Barrels may be placed out on Tuesday, positioned as close as possible to shoveled driveways, according to the Highway Director.
Snow Emergency Parking Ban
During the snow emergency:
- No vehicles may park on designated snow emergency arterial roadways
- Vehicles are subject to ticketing, towing, and fines
- Parked vehicles impede snow removal operations and create hazardous conditions for emergency responders

Residents must move vehicles off these roadways before the ban begins to allow for safe and effective snow removal.
Parking Regulations Reminder
The City of Framingham maintains year-round parking regulations:
- An odd/even parking restriction is in effect from January 1 through December 31
- Parking is allowed on the even side of the street in even-numbered years and the odd side in odd-numbered years, unless otherwise posted
- During a declared snow emergency, parking is prohibited on both sides of all posted snow emergency arterial roads
Vehicles that obstruct snow removal operations are in violation of City Bylaws, Article V, Section 15 – Snow Removal.
Under City Bylaws:
- Vehicle owners are responsible for towing and storage costs
- Vehicles may be held until all costs are paid
