Water & Wastewater Service Line Repairs/New Connections

CITY'S RESPONSIBILITY & PROPERTY OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITY - WATER AND Wastewater SERVICE LINE REPAIRS

The City is responsible for the portion of the water service connection that extends from the main in the street to the shut-off at the property line.

The property owner is responsible for:

  • The portion of their water service that extends from the property line into the dwelling
  • Entire wastewater (sewer) service (from their dwelling to the sewer main, including the connection at the main)

*Please Note: Commercial buildings/properties that have a fire service line are responsible for the entire length of their service (from their building to the water main).

Water and Sewer Service Line Responsibility
The cost of the owner’s service maintenance or replacement is dependent on multiple factors, including the work required, terrain, type of ground cover (e.g., driveway, lawn, walkway), or an unusual plumbing configuration.

When looking to make a repair your service line, the City recommends requesting a copy of your property's water and wastewater tie-cards. Tie-cards provide key information, including where existing pipes are located, when your service line was installed, the type of material, and more. To request a copy of your service line, please call 508-532-6050 or email water@framinghamma.gov.
