Parking Bans

The City of Framingham adheres to strict parking regulations year-round. An annual odd/even parking restriction is in effect from January 1st to December 31st. Parking is permitted on the even side of the road in an even year and on the odd side in an odd year, unless otherwise posted. During a declared snow emergency, parking is banned on both sides of all posted snow arteries. 

Vehicles that obstruct snow removal equipment are IN violation of the City's Bylaws, Article V, Section 15. Snow Removal. Vehicles will be ticketed and towed. 

Weather Emergency

Whenever impending weather conditions indicate a hazard or impairment of transportation, the movement of food and fuel supplies, fire, police, and/or medical services of the City, the Mayor, on the advice and counsel of the Director of Public Works, the Police Chief, and the Fire Chief shall declare a weather emergency.

For the calendar year of 2022 parking is permitted on the EVEN numbered side.

City bylaws on parking restrictions - Article V, Section 15. Snow Removal

15.2 The Director of Public Works or other officers having charge of ways of the Town shall have the authority, for the purposes of removing or plowing snow, or removing ice from any way in the Town, to remove or cause to be removed to some convenient place, including in such term a public garage, any vehicle interfering with such work.

15.3 The owner of any such vehicle so removed shall be liable for the reasonable cost of such removal and storage, and delivery of the vehicle to said owner may be withheld by the Director of Public Works or other officer having charge of ways in the Town, until such reasonable costs shall be paid.

15.4 Whenever any vehicle is so removed, the Police Department of the Town shall be notified, and said department shall render all necessary assistance to the Director of Public Works or other officer having charge of ways, in enforcing this Bylaw.

During a weather emergency, no driver of any vehicle shall park their  vehicle on the following arterial roadways:

  • Central Street
  • Cochituate Road
  • Concord Street
  • Edgell Road
  • Franklin Street
  • Gates Street
  • Grove Street
  • Hartford Street
  • Hollis Street
  • Howard Street
  • Irving Street
  • Lincoln Street
  • Potter Road
  • Salem End Road
  • School Street
  • Summer Street
  • Temple Street
  • Union Avenue
  • Water Street
  • Waverly Street
  • Winter Street
  • Winthrop Street
