Framingham has a long and complex industrial history, which has resulted in the city having more Release Tracking Numbers (RTNs) for hazardous material releases than neighboring towns. Many of these RTNs are associated with issues that originated decades ago, when the environmental impacts of common industrial practices were poorly understood.
Three of Framingham’s most complex sites are in the same neighborhood on the city’s south side. While each site has a long and complicated history, significant progress has been made over the past 10 years toward resolving the environmental issues at all three locations.:
