Tree Pruning Program

Tree Pruning Program Banner

The City of Framingham’s Department of Public Works is preparing to commence citywide tree and shrub pruning along public right-of-ways to promote safety, visibility, and tree health. This essential maintenance work will ensure clearance for street signs, lighting, fire hydrants, sidewalks, vehicles, and roadways while preserving the structural integrity of our trees.

Pruning Schedule & Zones

The City has been divided into 12 zones, and pruning will be conducted in numerical order. Work will begin in Zone 1 on March 10, 2025, with each zone expected to take approximately two weeks to complete. Due to varying conditions, we are unable to provide exact dates for subsequent zones at this time.

What to Expect

  • Pruning will be conducted by certified arborists following industry standards to maintain tree health and safety.
  • Trees that are decayed, insect-infested, damaged, or structurally weak may be removed to prevent potential hazards.
  • All debris from the pruning program will be cleared and removed.
