Offered on Zoom.  Call 508-532-5980 ext. 0 by 8/27 to register.

FOR AGES 55+ -- ON ZOOM: GREAT AMERICAN WRITERS - SYLVIA PLATH -- Almost 60 years after her suicide at the age of 30, Sylvia Plath stands as the most consequential poet of her generation. As a feminist voice, she dominates the 20th century the way Emily Dickinson did the century before. Her death, at the very height of her literary genius, was, in the words of critic A. Alvarez, “an inestimable loss to literature.” Public fascination with her life, her art and her tragic marriage to the great poet, Ted Hughes, has produced 15 biographies and hundreds of articles. Presenter Larry Lowenthal received an M.A. in English Literature from Northwestern and Ph.D. in Drama from NYU. During his career, he taught at colleges and universities in the U.S. and Israel. Since retiring from Northeastern University, Lowenthal has provided over 100 lectures a year on the subjects of film, literature and current events.
