Our greatest songwriters of the early 20th century have produced a body of work that has withstood the test of time. We still love to play and hear the music of George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen and many more. But what makes this music so special and timeless? How do the musical characteristics of each writer make them distinctive and unmistakable? This series starts with the songs of George Gershwin and will explore the qualities that distinguish his unique style and musical personality.
