Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald achieved popular success, fame and fortune during his lifetime, but he did not receive critical acclaim until after his death. Fitzgerald is now widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. We will analyze his flamboyant life, the Jazz Age of which he was a glittering part, his brilliant writing style, and his key work, The Great Gatsby.
Presented by: Dr. Larry Lowenthal -- Larry Lowenthal received an M.A. in English Literature from Northwestern and Ph.D. in Drama from NYU. He taught at several colleges in the U.S. and Israel. More recently, he taught in the English and Jewish Studies Departments at Northeastern as an adjunct professor.
