  2. American History: North American Settlement & Early English Colonization (for ages 55 and older)

    The first lecture in this three-part series will cover the 1600 to 1700s. We will discuss the various motives for the people of England to leave their homes, overcome challenges, and establish new lives in North America. Emphasis will be placed on Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the Puritans, and interactions with Native Americans. Presented by John Gardella – During his 25 years at Gardner High School, John Gardella taught U.S. History, Advanced Placement World History, and Advanced Placement United States Government and Politics. He also served as the History Department Chair and the Core Curriculum Leader for the district. For ages 55 and older. Please call the Callahan Center to register: 508-532-5980.   4. Back-to-School Family Picnic

    For the first time ever, Framingham Public Schools (FPS) is hosting a Back To School Picnic which will be free and open to all Framingham Public School students, families, staff, and community partners. This gathering serves many purposes, including: welcoming families back after summer break, encouraging community connections, inspiring family engagement, and providing access to internal FPS and external Community Resources. Through generous donations from local businesses and service providers, various raffle items will be available for families to win. The more you interact and engage with the games and activities, the more tickets you receive - the more chances you have to win!
