Immigration concerns surged into the very center of the 2016 presidential campaign and has remained at the forefront of a raging political debate ever since, not only in America but throughout Europe. In fact, the immigration issue may well decide the future of the European Union as the world has known it, and it will have repercussions in America for years to come. What are the facts regarding immigration and jobs, taxes, consumption of social services and health care, crime, cultural change, and American fertility rates? How do we define key concepts like "pluralism" and "multiculturalism" and how might our views on immigration alter our definition of what it means to be an "American”. Presented by Dr. Larry Lowenthal. This program supported in part by a grant from the Framingham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, and in part by the Friends of Callahan.
