    The theme of this year’s contest is “city” recognizing that Framingham is the Commonwealth’s newest city All submissions draw inspiration from or respond to this theme in some way. The submissions must be new and original and not copies or reinterpretations of works by others nor have been submitted or exhibited previously. The students must be age 11-18 as of January 1, 2018.

  2. Framingham Gun Buy Back - Gift Cards for Guns

    April 28, 2018, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM @ Framingham Public Works Operations Center

    The Framingham Police Department, Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer, the Framingham City Council and our Community Partners are teaming up and introducing a City wide “Gift Cards for Guns” initiative on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This public health and public safety event will provide residents with an opportunity to anonymously and safely dispose of unwanted firearms and reduce the potential for an accidental discharge or wrongdoing in a home. The Gift Cards for Guns drop-off location will provide a safe, convenient way for individuals to drop off unwanted guns with NO questions asked and NO identification required. The Framingham Police Department and Middlesex Sheriff’s Office will be managing the site; and the Massachusetts State Police Department will destroy the guns.

  3. Framingham Police Taking Back Unwanted Prescription Drugs

    On Saturday April 28, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the Framingham Police Department in concert with the Medical Reserve Corps will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills, patches, liquids or ointments for disposal to 1 William Welch Way (inside the police Department lobby). The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

  5. 8th Annual Framingham Earth Day Festival

    With more than 100 vendors, exhibitors, and attractions, the 8th annual Framingham Earth Day Festival will be a great chance to celebrate the Earth in a wonderful community based way. The Festival will be held on the Framingham Centre Common on Saturday, April 28th from 11am to 3pm. The theme of this year’s festival is “LOCAL” featuring Framingham and MetroWest organizations actively involved in our local community. Kids can enjoy nature-based games, art projects, and activities. We will have lots of local, vegetarian food options for the whole family. Attendees can also enjoy live music and free yoga classes. The Festival will also provide an opportunity to recycle many hard to recycle items.   6. Exhibit: An American Town in World War I

    Why do many of us know so little about WWI? Perhaps because America entered the war during its last year? Or is it because few understood shell shock and how to process the horrors of the trenches? While WWII is known for the “greatest generation,” WWI produced the “lost generation.” But WWI is not lost to Framingham. As the centenary of Armistice approaches in November this exhibit features seven local men and women whose stories speak to the larger forces at play in the first war that engulfed the world. Innovations around flight and technology, the impact of the influenza pandemic, pacifism and suffrage are just some of the threads tying Framingham to WWI. For more info:
