Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer and Framingham Board of Health Rescind Certain Joint Mayoral and

COVID-19 Orders Effective May 29, 2021

Framingham, MA – Today, Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer and the Framingham of Health (BOH) issued a joint order rescinding certain Executive Orders, Joint Orders of the Mayor and BOH, and Orders of the BOH (“local orders”) effective at 12:01 a.m. May 29, 2021.

The jointly issued “omnibus” order makes the City’s local COVID-19 orders consistent with orders issued by Governor Baker and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the safety standards, recommended best practices, and checklists as may be issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and Guidance issued by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission.

The jointly issued order terminates Framingham’s March 10, 2020 State of Emergency on June 15, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. to coincide with the termination of the Commonwealth’s State of Emergency.

The rescinded local orders are:

  • Order of the Framingham Board of Health to Restrict Public In-person Meetings dated March 16, 2020.
  • Order of the Framingham Board of Health to Prohibit Certain Self-Service Food Operations, Lottery Sales, and Personal Care Services dated March 24, 2020.

  • Joint Order of the Framingham Board of Health and Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer Regarding Restaurant Seating Limits dated April 17, 2020, Order No. EO 2020-006 (Exhibit F)

At the request and vote of the BOH, the Order of the Mayor Establishing a Moratorium on Eviction Enforcement in the City of Framingham dated February 9, 2021, Order No. EO 2021-001 was rescinded with a provision that the moratorium would remain in place for tenants against whom an eviction proceeding has been initiated and who have applied for relief under a state or federal program, and whose application is pending as of May 24, 2021.
