*COVID-19 UPDATE*
Since Monday, 39 Residents have Tested Positive, and 17 More have Recovered from COVID-19;
Framingham Vaccine Equity Initiative Not to Administer Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Until Further Notice

  • Since Monday, 39 residents have tested positive, and 17 more have recovered from COVID-19: The number of people in the City who have tested positive for COVID-19 is 7,908. With 6,162 recovered and 242 fatalities, Framingham currently has 1,504 active cases. The Framingham Health Department contacts the people who were potentially exposed and the owners of the businesses or places of employment where the potential exposures occurred to inform and counsel them on next steps (contact tracing). In addition to the active cases, the Health Department is following 663 residents in quarantine.

  • The Framingham Vaccine Equity Initiative will not administer the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine until further notice: Any clinics currently scheduled as a part of the equity initiative will use the Moderna vaccine. The City will follow all guidelines about any use of the J&J vaccine. The Massachusetts COVID-19 Command Response Center issued a statement on Tuesday, April 12, about the J&J vaccination pause: “In response to today’s recommendation from the FDA and CDC to pause J&J vaccines due to an extremely rare condition reported in 6 individuals nationwide, the Department of Public Health directed all providers to immediately pause administration of the J&J vaccine until federal health experts investigate this matter. This action is being taken out of an abundance of caution as the FDA and CDC review these 6 cases, none of which are known to be linked to Massachusetts. The FDA has reported over 6.8M doses of J&J have been administered nationwide. Individuals who have received a J&J vaccine should contact their physician if they have concerns.”
