Framingham, MA – Eversource informed the City of Framingham that it will use drones to conduct a survey along its transmission corridor, beginning in Wayland, MA then heading towards its Sudbury, MA electric substation before continuing south of its substation in Framingham.
Residents who abut the areas to be surveyed received the following message from Eversource:
“As part of our everyday effort to deliver reliable energy to our customers and communities, we’ll be inspecting transmission structures on or near your property. Maintaining the infrastructure is one of the many ways Eversource supports the safe, secure transmission of electricity throughout the region.
We will be doing the maintenance work in your area within the next couple of weeks. This inspection is being done to evaluate the condition of the structures and wire, using an innovative way to provide you with reliable electric service.
Crews will be using drones to inspect the equipment. These drones are aerial devices, about two-feet across, equipped with a camera, and manned by the drone operator on the ground within the right of way (power line corridor). Drones offer these benefits:
