Dear Framingham Residents,
Wow! What a parade and perfect day we had to celebrate our nation’s flag, in our amazing city! The Flag Day Parade in Framingham has a wonderful, deeply rooted history, I was thrilled we could reinstitute it after 12 years! I have heard from so many people how much it meant to have the Flag Day Parade return to Framingham!
This was a team effort and once again demonstrates the tenacity of our community. To all our sponsors, supporters, and patrons: our heartfelt appreciation goes out to you. It is through your ongoing generosity, large and small, that we are able to enjoy the success of this time-honored tradition.
A special thank you to the Flag Day Parade organizers, and our co-chairs Kelly Hagerty, and Craig Sullivan who worked behind the scenes to create an amazing event. They recruited a team of volunteers who worked tirelessly over the past few months to plan and execute the parade.
To our honorary Grand Marshals Valerie Mulvey, for her many years of service to our city, and Nick Paganella for representing our servicemen and women – a huge thank you!
Nearly 45 groups marched, including our City Council, School Committee, local businesses, schools, churches, civic organizations, community members, bands, clowns, and the many municipal departments and divisions.
Our deepest gratitude to the Framingham Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Medical Corps, Department of Public Works, Parks and Recreation and all those who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure public safety for both participants and spectators during the entire event.
If you see any of these people over the next few weeks, take a moment to thank them!
Finally, residents of Framingham, thank you for welcoming back the treasured Flag Day Parade. This was an opportunity to celebrate with family, friends, and neighbors the pride in our rich and diverse community – truly the best of Framingham! I am already looking forward to next year’s Flag Day Parade.
