THE KENNEDY SAGA, Part 1: Famine to Fame, Presented by: Rick Tulipano, For ages 55+
Thursday, September 28, 2023
For ages 55+ -- THE KENNEDY SAGA, Part 1: Famine to Fame -- The Kennedys are the most legendary family in American history. In this three-part presentation we will delve into the triumphs and tragedies of the Kennedy clan, from their arrival in 19th century America to the present day. In Part 1, Famine to Fame, Rick Tulipano will discuss how the Kennedys escaped the potato famine in Ireland by emigrating to the U.S. in the 1850s. They encountered fierce anti-Irish prejudice in Boston but one of their ancestors, Joseph Patrick Kennedy, overcame all obstacles to create a wealthy family imbued with a powerful sense of destiny. However, one of Joseph’s daughters was excluded from the family. We’ll look at this “original sin” of the Kennedys. We’ll also see how the family’s most promising son, Joe Kennedy Jr., lost his life in a senseless military mission in Europe.
