Monday, May 30, 2022

A tribute to 17 Gold Star families of Framingham veterans will highlight the City of Framingham’s Memorial Day ceremony, to be held at 11am on Monday, May 30, in the Memorial Building’s Nevins Hall at 150 Concord Street.

Each Gold Star family will receive a Medal of Liberty, presented by Massachusetts Senate President Karen E. Spilka, in recognition of the service and sacrifice of their family member who served in World War II.

A program of the Framingham Veterans Services Office, the ceremony will also include remarks by Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, City Council, and Senator Spilka and the participation of the Framingham Fire Department and Boy and Girl Scouts.   Master Sergeant Charlie Duquette USMC/Ret. and Mr. Gregg Brasso will be guest speakers.

After a 25-year career in the Marine Corps, Master Sgt. Duquette has held such positions as Iraqi Military Advisor, co-producer of Veterans Voice Radio TV Network, Veteran Services Officer, and Veterans Employment Training Outreach Manager.

Mr. Brasso is founder and executive director of Veterans Voice Radio, which connects veterans and military members with benefits and services, including housing, education, and training programs.
