The Worcester Road Water and Sewer Improvements Phase II project consists of the evaluation, design, replacement and rehabilitation of water and sewer pipelines along Worcester Road - Westbound (Route 9) between Concord Street (Route 126) and the Natick town line. Much of the water and sewer infrastructure in this area is considerably aged and constructed of old materials, such as cast iron. Additionally, some of the infrastructure is undersized for the future demands of this evolving business district.
The goals of this project are as follows:
Rehabilitate or replace aged infrastructure using new materials and current methods of construction.
Increase pipe diameters to meet current minimum standards or to accommodate anticipated future needs.
Re-align pipe within roadway to more favorable locations for operations and maintenance access (if/where applicable).
75% of the design is now complete, the City has reviewed the design and made comments. A meeting will be held with the City and the Consultant in the next few weeks to go over the review and make a decision on whether or not advancing this project to next year's calendar.
