Applying for a Marriage License
To apply for a marriage license, the couple must come to the City Clerk’s office together. Both must be at least 18 years of age. Information that will be needed when you apply for a marriage license includes: Proof of age (driver's license, passport, naturalization record), social security numbers for both parties; complete names and maiden names of each party's parents; and the city and state where each party was born. If either party or both parties are divorced, no paperwork is required, however the divorce must be finalized before they can file an intention. The couple is signing under the pains of perjury that the divorce is final.
There is a mandatory 3 day waiting period from the application date and the date the license is issued and can only be waived with a court order.

Marriage License Fees
Marriage licenses are valid for 60 days and can be used to marry in any Massachusetts city or town. The fee is $30 (cash or check) and this includes a certified copy of the marriage certificate.
