The City of Framingham adopted an Affordable Housing Bylaw (Special Regulations, Section V.H "Affordable Housing") at the 2004 Annual Town Meeting.
The bylaw is intended to:
Ensure a long-term supply of affordable housing
Promote a mix and distribution of affordable housing throughout Framingham
Help the city maintain 10% affordability as set forth in M.G.L. Chapter 40B
The bylaw requires that 10% of the units in housing developments with 10 or more units be affordable to households at or below 80% of the median income for the Boston Metropolitan Statistical Area, with income adjusted for household size.
The Division continues to monitor subsidized housing projects to assure that the affordable units continue to be available.
