Birth, Marriage, and Death Certificates

Birth Certificates are available for births dating from 1700 to the present for children born in the Town of Framingham.

Marriage Certificates are available for records dating from 1700 to the present. The Town Clerk has records for couples who filed their marriage intention in Framingham.

Death Certificates are available for records dating from 1700 to the present. The Town Clerk has records for any individual who died in Framingham, as well as records for Framingham residents who died elsewhere in Massachusetts.

The fee is $10.00 for a certified copy of any of the vital records documents, birth, marriage, or death certificate.

Genealogy Searches

The Town Clerk’s office is happy to assist citizens with genealogy searches. We will search for up to three records for free if a name and date range are provided. After three searches, the fee is $3.00 per record. For record searches without a date range, the fee is $5.00 per record. Searches are free if a certified copy is purchased.

Dog Registrations

All dogs six months of age and older must be licensed by the Town Clerk. Dog owners who fail to register their dogs are subject to a fine and court action from the Framingham Animal Control Officer. 

The fee for a dog registration is $15.  The cost is reduced to $10 with documentation from a vet stating that the dog has been spayed or neutered.

You may register your dog my mail.  Send a self addressed, stamped envelope and a written request which includes your name, address, dog's name, breed, color, a copy of a valid rabies certificate and the proper fee.  A license will be returned to you by mail as will rabies documentation.  Send registration to the Framingham Town Clerk, 150 Concord Street, Framingham, MA  01702.

Dog licenses are also available in person during normal business hours, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Each year a renewal notice will be mailed to you during the annual registration period.

If you own 4 or more dogs, you must obtain an animal permit from the Framingham Board of Health and  a Kennel License from this office.  An owner of 4 or more dogs cannot separately license the dogs.

Business Certificates (DBA)

Business Certificates (Doing Business As certificates), must be filed by unincorporated business located in Framingham which are conducting business under a name other than one’s own. The certificate is valid for four years.

Voter Registration

All United States Citizens are eligible to vote if they will be at least eighteen years of age as of the next election. The registration deadline is twenty days prior to an election.
