Deputy Chief Kenneth Ferguson is a second generation member of the Framingham Police Department. Ferguson has been a member of the department since January of 1985 . He joined his father, Joseph, as a patrolman (Officer Joe Ferguson passed away in 1994).

Ferguson was reassigned to the Detective bureau in 1991 working in the Narcotics unit for a year and then as a general duty detective until his promotion to sergeant in November of 1992.

An interesting side note is that Deputy Chief Ferguson was sworn in by his wife Lisa who is the Assistant Town Clerk for Framingham.


Framingham Police Background
As a sergeant Ferguson was assigned to the Patrol Division working evenings and midnights. During this time, he attended the Law Enforcement Management Institute at Babson College and continued his education, earning his Masters Degree from Western New England College.

In July 1998, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and attended the three week leadership program at UMASS Lowell. He was assigned to the patrol unit, working both the evening and midnight shift.

During this time, he was invited to attend round table discussions, sponsored by the Boston Police Department, which focused on leadership and ethical issues in policing.
