The department is responsible for enforcing all accuracy requirements and standards relating to weight and measurement devices in the Town of Framingham. These devices are used in the sale of:

The department conducts random inspections of devices to ensure that they are being used as designed, and that security wires and seals are intact.

Security seals are placed on the adjustment mechanisms of the devices to prevent unauthorized tampering with the calibrators, which can change the accuracy of the product being weighed or measured.
