Bulky Item Disposal
Definition of Bulky Items
Bulky items are defined as: materials which require a fee for collection due to their size and/or weight OR which cannot be disposed of as municipal solid waste during the regular collection route because of Massachusetts waste disposal restrictions outlined in 310 CMR 19.017.1.
Items must be paid for in advance; cash or check accepted. Residents have two options for proper disposal of bulky items: drop-off and curbside collection

Residents may bring these items to the Recycling Drop-off Center, located at 255 Mt. Wayte Ave., during normal hours of operation (Thursday - Saturday, 8 am - 3 pm; Sunday 11 am - 3 pm) A permit to used the facility is required.

Curbside Collection
Residents of one to four-family dwellings and approved condominiums may schedule a special bulky item curbside collection. Special curbside collections may be scheduled at the Recycling Drop-off Center during the normal hours of operation OR at the Public Works Office (Monday - Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm) located in the Memorial Building Room 213 at 150 Concord Street.
Applicable fees for bulky item disposal are as follows:

  (non-metal items > 40lbs)
Sleep Sofa $25 $25*
Mattresses $20 $20*
Freon Items $15 $15*
Carpeting (total > 4’x6’) $25 $25*
TVs, Monitors, CRTs $15 $15*
Tires – any size $2 $2*
  (with or without rims)
Propane Tanks $5 No curbside collection

*$5 service fee added for curbside collections*

When are curbside items collected? Soft goods are scheduled for your regular trash day; all other items are scheduled for Wednesday.

Items must be set at the curb by 7 am on the scheduled collection day; employees are not authorized to enter private property.
