The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, a non-profit advocacy group that represents over 600 biotechnology companies, universities and academic institutions in Massachusetts, has developed a rating system for municipalities that provide information on their zoning practices and infrastructure capacity.
The rating system is designed to help biotechnology companies find the most favorable locations in Massachusetts and to enable local municipalities to advertise that they have made a commitment to the biotechnology industry.
The Town is anxious to encourage biotech firms to locate in specified areas of the community in order to enhance the tax base. The 2009 survey results are out and Framingham has achieved the coveted Platinum rating, the Council’s highest rating!
