Join us for part 3 of a 6 part series that will showcase the history of Jazz. On the heels of the Ragtime Era, the music scene was bubbling with energy that was being felt all over the country. New Orleans, the most dynamic center for the new music, was sending its sounds and styles to the northern urban centers where the local musicians took up the cause. The Jazz Age had begun! Hear all of these new styles from Barrelhouse to Dixieland to Stride Piano and more.
This series with Ross Petot follows Jazz through the decades, all the way to swing and bebop. Mr. Petot is one of the Boston area’s busiest pianists and is well known to audiences throughout New England as a soloist and as a band member. He has taught piano and performed in the U.S. and abroad for more than 30 years. This program supported in part by a grant from the Framingham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, and in part by the Friends of Callahan.
