  2. Framingham Celebrates Race Amity Day

    June 11, 2017, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Front steps of Memorial Building

The Massachusetts Legislature passed the Race Amity Day Bill (H 2745, Chapter 163 of Acts of 2015), which was signed into law by Governor Charlie Baker in February 2016. This law encourages cities and towns all over Massachusetts to commemorate Race Amity Day on the second Sunday of June. The Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Framingham is sponsoring a Race Amity Day commemoration this Sunday, June 11th, at 3pm. All are invited and the event is free. From the front steps of Memorial Hall, we will read the Race Amity Day Proclamation, offering speeches in the spirit of the law, which recognizes that "the people of the Commonwealth are its greatest asset," and honoring the multicultural, multiethnic, and multiracial character of our communities by encouraging friendship, collegiality, civility, respect, and kindness as commonly shared ideals. The Town of Framingham is a uniquely diverse community in Massachusetts. We hope that people of all backgrounds will join us.
