FREE – Jazz: A History of Sound & Style Spirituals, Work Songs, Folk Songs, and the Great Melting Pot

Thursday, March 22, 2018

Join us for Part One of a six-part series that will showcase the history of Jazz. Hear how the strains of American folk music evolved over the past two centuries. Performances by pianist Ross Petot will start with work songs and spirituals and move through the decades, all the way to swing and bebop. Ross Petot is one of the Boston area’s busiest pianists and is well known to audiences throughout New England as a soloist and as a band member. This program supported in part by a grant from the Framingham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, and in part by the Friends of Callahan. Please call the Callahan Center to register: 508-532-5980.
