Anna Murphy Park

This Framingham park was named for Anna M. Murphy, who for twelve years was principal of the Memorial School. During World War I she supervised a program of “Victory Gardens” to support the war effort. The playground sits on the land used for those gardens. In 1935-6 the Works Progress Administration (W.P.A.) constructed clay tennis courts at Framingham’s Anna Murphy Playground, removed the remnants of a stone wall, and installed a wire mesh fence. The park is located at the corner of Cove Ave and Lake Ave in Framingham.
