Mill and Overlay The Framingham Highway Department utilizes a roadway rehabilitation strategy for extending the service life of a roadway. Resurfacing often includes stormwater drainage improvements, milling the top layer of asphalt, an Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) leveler course, intersection improvements, structure and curbing adjustments, sidewalk improvements including upgrades to meet American Disability Act (ADA) standards, signage upgrades and restoration of traffic markings.
Stress Absorbing Membrane Inter-layer (SAMI)
Some roadway rehabilitation includes a highly durable SAMI treatment. It is similar to a Rubber Chip Seal treatment but it is used between the layers of the hot mix asphalt for a different purpose than surface treatment. It is utilized to extend the service life of various roadway treatments.
Waverly Street – Sidewalk and curb work are being completed during the day, while milling and paving operations are done over night. This roadwork was originally expected to be completed by fall 2017 and currently is on schedule to do so.
