Elmfield Road and Hop Brook Utilities Replacement
The Elmfield Road and Hop Brook Utilities Replacement project was identified by the Wastewater Division through its routine maintenance and inspection of the collection system to be in need of replacement and/or rehabilitation. The Project includes the replacement of approximately 2,200 linear feet of severely corroded 8-inch asbestos cement (AC) sewer pipe with 8-inch PVC pipe along Elmfield Road and Griffin Road; abandonment and relocation of AC sewer pipe that crosses through wetlands adjacent to Hemenway Road.; and trenchless lining of about 2,900 linear feet of sewer pipe in Eisenhower Road, Hemenway Road and through an easement behind houses on Hemenway Road.
In addition, nearly 1,500 linear feet of under-sized 6-inch water pipe along Elmfield Road and portions of Griffin Road will be replaced with 8-inch ductile iron pipe, along with associated service connections.Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in the Summer of 2016 and is expected to continue through 2017.
Construction on the water and sewer line replacement project is completed on Elmfield Road and the portion of Griffin Road within the project limits.
On Hemenway Road, sewer pipe has been lined and/or replaced within the project limits as identified.
In the spring, contractors will perform a final paving of the roadway on Elmfield Road and a portion of Griffin Road within project limits.
