Landham Pond Dam Removal
The Landham Pond Dam, built over 70 years ago, is the only town owned dam. Donated as part of a land grant to the town in 1973, it is believed to contribute to the upstream hydraulic issues along Hop Brook. Hydraulic modeling shows that the removal of the dam will reduce the frequency and severity of flooding in the area of Hemenway Road, Sloan Drive and Gregory Road.
This project will provide restoration of a section of Hop Brook west of Hemenway Road and the CSX rail line to improve the habitat for native aquatic species.
The proposed improvements will include the removal of the dam, removal/adjustments to the existing sediments and fill materials, and habitat restoration.
